SJVN is a MiniRatnaPSU incorporated in 1988 as a joint venture of the Government of India and the Govt. of Himachal Pradesh  to plan, investigate, organize, execute, operate and maintain hydroelectric power projects in the Satluj river basin in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Currently it operates 1500 MW, the largest ever underground hydro project. It is also managing capacity addition of 3116 MW through construction of   6 more power projects.

It has total employee base of 1848 out of which 64 are H.R.executives.

SJVN  is conferred with the GenentechEnvironment Excellence Awards in 2010, SCOPE  Gold Medal Award in Medium Public Sector Enterprises Category by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in 2010.
