Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) incorporated in 1966, is engaged in regulation of the supply of Water and Power from BhakraNangal and Beas Projects to the states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi and Chandigarh. It also operates long Hydro tunnels and Hydel channels.

BhakraNangal and Beas Dams have controlled the floods and have also brought prosperity to the partner states of Northern India. It has six power houses, 28 generating units and seven beneficiary states. It manages 2867 MW power generation, 3705 km high voltage transmission lines, and a number of sub stations.

BBMB has won the Corporate Genentech Social Responsibility Gold Award-2011 in Hydro Power Sector.  The company was bestowed with “fourth Indian power award -2011"under the “Overall Utility Performance-Generation (Hydro)” for its meritorious performance in the field of Hydropower Generation.  It has received Gold Shield in recognition of meritorious performance of Bhakra Power Houses for the year 2008
